Reflection: Provide an overview of major learning experiences, how the experiences have supported your professional development and what growth you see in your knowledge, skills and abilities as an instruction technology professional

The major learning experiences were assisting the Media Specialist with the acquisition of the Nook Colors, designing and implementing a plan for staff development (purchasing Apps, preparing a check-out calendar, trouble tracking, assess the usability throughout the school) through a electronic platform. The acquisition experience came in handy for the technology plan for a later date. But being able to utilize the asset information online was very useful. Also to see the behind the scenes of the Media Specialist, which was an eye opener. Once the Nook Colors were cataloged and coded, the training development began. I did not own a Nook Color, so I had to spend my evenings playing it and viewing videos, various blogs about how other were using them as well. Several schools enjoyed using them for ereaders, but my principal wanted to see what else could be done, before purchasing addition Nooks for the entire school. First, my principal alloted addition funds for apps, so I send out google wish forms to staff to review apps of their chose to add to the list of purchase from there I look at cost, overall grade level usage, and repeated requests for the same app.I had to weigh several factors before purchasing a specific apps. Second, I developed a Nook Color site for the teachers for easy access right at their finger tips. It features tutorials, checkout calendar, webquest, ebooks, and more. Thirdly, I wanted to see if the sites that teachers use on a daily based were attainable on the Nooks and they were except for Google Docs (PDF) and Discovery Education, which our district is working on fixing. Overall the Nooks has been a great purchase for our school. The teachers and students are enjoying them daily. There is a 3-4 year battery life on the Nook Colors, part of the Tech Plan will be to find the next technology device that will replace these and the laptops. We must decide what to order or not, when and how many before or by the end of year 3.

Leadership: describe how your postiona as an intern has supported yuour development as a leader in the instructional technology field

My position as an intern has supported my development as leader in the instructional technology field by open the line of communication with the principal, media specialist, staff and district director. They were will to give me what I needed to be successful as an intern and a technology facilitator, they saw the need for the school and the student. I was able to gain the experience I needed to go the extra mile in leadership role as a tech facilitator. This experience allow my principal to that a closer look at my experietise and ask my opinion for other technologies for the school.
